Curves of the Earth: A Café Rooted in Chiang Dao’s Landscape

Nestled in the heart of Chiang Dao, our café is more than just a new hangout—it's a tribute to the rolling landscapes of this serene region. We took an old, traditional restaurant and reimagined it, transforming it into a modern, two-story retreat that feels both fresh and deeply connected to nature.

Drawing from the natural curves of Mork Laung Hill, the design weaves gentle, organic lines throughout, both inside and out. These curves mirror the hills, blending the café seamlessly with its surroundings. We embraced a wabi-sabi aesthetic—smooth but not overly polished—letting natural imperfections give the space character. Rough textures add a grounded feel to the walls, while large windows frame breathtaking views of the mountains and garden, bringing the outdoors right in and filling the space with warm, natural light.

The challenge? Preserving elements of the old structure while extending it to create a smooth flow between the original and the new. Now, the café’s layout effortlessly connects indoor and outdoor seating, maximizing space while keeping the relaxed, open atmosphere that makes Chiang Dao so special.

This café is designed for those who want to sit back, enjoy a cup, and take in the beauty of the hills—a place where the curves of the earth shape every detail, bringing a little bit of nature into each experience.
